La Costa dei Barbari

Viareggio Versilia

Part of the province of Lucca includes historically municipalities of Pietrasanta, which is the ancient capital and captaincy, Forte dei Marmi, Seravezza and Stazzema. These last two, because their territory is predominantly the hilly and mountainous area of the Alps, constitute the '' Alta Versilia ". The coast has a strong tourist characteristic with a huge golden beach and a bustling worldly activities. Here there are numerous night clubs and historical and trendy discos that overlook the sea.

The so-called "Historical Versilia" consists exclusively of four municipalities: from a geographical point of view the "Historical Versilia" runs from Cinquale ditch in the north to Motrone ditch to south and coincides with what was once the Captaincy of Pietrasanta. Tourism development has incorporated in Modern Versilia the neighboring communities Viareggio and Camaiore.
